I am a final year Accountancy student in Singapore Management University and am especially keen in joining the Global Data Team. I am not unfamiliar with working life, having benefitted from an overseas internship opportunity in the Accounting and Finance Department of Manila Ocean Park as well as an internship in the Audit department of Ernst and Young LLP. My internship in Ernst and Young resulted in a priority offer of employment only available to the top 20% of the internship cohort. This achievement demonstrates my strong work ethic and ability to thrive under high pressure.
I see myself as a good fit because my appointment as the Vice President of Research in SMU’s Tax Society has made me adept at analysing and synthesizing multiple sets of data into coherent reports. My stellar academic grades in relevant coursework such as Business Law, Analytical Skills, and Finance bear testament my good grasp of numbers and keen analytical mind. My experiences in case competitions have also honed my time management and public speaking skills. I also have experience in undertaking corporate finance analysis as I had to conduct industry, capital structure, valuation, and forecasting analysis using DCF as well as RIM and FCFF for Venture Corporation during a module entitled “Corporate Reporting and Financial Analysis”. Collectively, these have given me a base of experiences from which I can leverage upon to embrace the steep learning curve associated with learning on the job as a first-year analyst. Additionally, I demonstrate a clear sense of integrity and discretion in all my endeavours and I strongly believe that the above qualities will be further refined if I were given the opportunity to work in your illustrious firm.
