To put it mildly, extremely mildly. Things have changed since the last 3 times earth orbited the sun.

5 qualities have since emerged to be the most sustainable sources of competitive advantages. Here is the list of 5 and how my career has exemplified them: 

1.The ability to learn faster than your competition.

My career has been about understanding patterns, the ups, and downs, cultivating a sense and certainty of the future landscape. 10 years of meetings, prototyping and research sessions have taught me that a sound plan usually comes from a series of lessons.

2.The willingness to fail more than your competition.

10 years of back and forth with 120+ brands, 40+ communities, have taught me that the true method of success is experiment, the things that do not work out always pave the way for things that do.

3. The ability to communicate more effectively than your competition.

Strategising alongside brands, investors, contributors and charlatans; communicating on behalf of various stakeholders; balancing the needs of an array of audiences; creating content for clients from everywhere around the globe. I now have learnt that it’s not communication if the audience feels nothing from your words.

4. The ability to empathize with people more than your competition. 

Put an ounce in a bucket each day, years later you get a quart. I believe in investing time and effort with the people you work with or for. Building relationships with those around you and understanding their needs or fears create a culture of collaboration and trust.

5. The willingness to wait longer than your competition. 

A large part of our excessive, unnecessary actions come from a terror that if we are not somehow signalling all the time that we exist, if there are no signs of progress, there will be no result. My career has proven it otherwise. Patience means that your beliefs outweigh doubts.

This position is about making windows where there were once walls.
